Innovation and development of technologies are of crucial importance for the competitiveness of companies and regions, building the basis for future growth. But it is a cumbersome and long lasting process with rather high costs. Over 95% of companies in SEE are MSME facing structural deficits such as limited access to information, low resources and funds for innovative entrepreneurship and insecure operating framework for developing and implementing innovative products, procedures and technologies. Thus, stimulating innovative entrepreneurship for MSMEs with an appropriate range of instruments, that enhance the framework conditions and strengthen the enabling innovation environment is one of the most important challenges. The SEE-IFA Network addresses the entire range of deficits, from networking, access to relevant information, support of know-how transfer, training, development of feasibility studies, assessment of frameworks and needs and design of concrete instruments and agencies.
The global objective of the project is strengthening the IFA project partners capacity for effective provision of innovation and technology support to MSME through the establishment of a platform for know-how-transfer and by concrete joint action.
The specific objectives of the project are:
· Identify needs and gaps in all SEE-countries in the region's capacity for a more effective
provision of innovation and technology support to MSME (rel. to WP3)
· Improve the exchange and transfer of know-how through the assessment of existing
instruments and the identification and madofication of transferable elements (rel. to WP4)
· Enhance the operating environment through the identification of funding possibilities and
the development of a patent and licence Fund (rel. to WP5)
· Assist IFA partners and relevant bodies in the establishment of Innovation & Finance
Agencies with adequate portfolios for innovation and technology support (rel. to WP6)
· Increase capacity of local actors and experts through mentoring, training, exchange
schemes and visits (rel. to WP7).
